Finance Dashboard

VAT monitoring, tax accruals, and owner's drawings, all in one place.

Finance Dashboard

Go to Finance → Finance Dashboard. Three tabs sit across the top — VAT, Tax Accruals, and Drawings — with a View Audit Trail button in the top corner on every tab.

🔴
Debug information is currently visible on the VAT tab — a "Debug Info" panel under VAT Monitoring and a separate "Debug: API account_id / User ID" bar above VAT Liabilities. Worth knowing this is there if you're showing the screen to a client or in training, until it's removed.

VAT

The VAT tab opens with your HMRC Making Tax Digital connection status. If you're not connected, a banner offers Connect to HMRC so VAT returns can eventually be submitted directly.

VAT tab — HMRC connection, VAT Monitoring with threshold tracking, and VAT Liabilities

VAT Monitoring

This panel shows your VAT Status (Registered or not), VAT Number, and VAT Scheme, alongside your rolling 12-month turnover and projected annual figure. Two threshold bars track your position against the two numbers that matter for VAT:

ThresholdWhat it means
VAT Registration Threshold (£90,000)The point at which a business must register for VAT if not already registered
Flat Rate Exit Threshold (£230,000)The point at which a business must leave the Flat Rate Scheme

A VAT Status panel gives a plain-language read on your position — "Your VAT status is healthy with no alerts" when nothing needs attention.

VAT Liabilities

Below VAT Monitoring, a table lists VAT liabilities by period — Output VAT, Input VAT, Net Liability, Paid, Outstanding, Status, and Actions — with a Totals row.

ℹ️
On a newly set-up or low-volume account, this table can read "No VAT liabilities found" with every column at £0.00, even when VAT registered with real turnover recorded elsewhere. This most likely means no VAT period has been finalised yet, but it's worth confirming rather than assuming if you see it on an account that should have liabilities.

Tax Accruals

Switch to the Tax Accruals tab to see how much you're setting aside for tax across the year. A summary card shows the Total Accrued for the year and the monthly average, followed by a table of every accrual by month, with its description, amount, and an action to manage it.

Annual Setup

Click Annual Setup to create a full year of accruals in one go, rather than adding each month individually.

Annual Tax Accrual Setup — splits one total evenly across twelve monthly accruals

Enter the Year, the Total Annual Tax you expect to owe, and an optional Description. The system creates monthly accruals for the entire year, evenly distributing the total tax amount across all twelve months.

💡
If your accountant has given you an estimated annual tax figure, Annual Setup is the quickest way to get a full year of monthly accruals in place in one step, rather than using Add Accrual twelve times.

Add Accrual

Use Add Accrual instead when you want to record or adjust a single month individually — for example correcting one month's figure after Annual Setup, or adding accruals one at a time as the year goes on.

Drawings

Switch to the Drawings tab to track money taken out of the business by the owner. A summary card shows Total Drawings for the year, followed by a table of every drawing with date, description, amount, and payment method.

View Chart and Reclassify Personal

View Chart gives a visual view of drawings over time rather than just the table. Reclassify Personal is presumably for moving a transaction that was originally recorded as a business expense into Drawings instead, once it's clear it was actually a personal cost — worth confirming the exact behaviour the first time you use it, since this isn't yet verified against the live screen.

🔴
Reclassify Personal hasn't been clicked through yet — its description above is a reasonable guess based on the name, not a confirmed walkthrough. Treat this paragraph as provisional until checked.
